Almost 100 people have been charged with drug offences following a police operation at a New Year’s Day dance festival in Sydney.

An overt and covert police operation was in place for ‘Fuzzy Field Day 2023’, which was held at The Domain yesterday (Sunday 1 January 2023).

The operation targeted anti-social behaviour, alcohol-related crime, and the supply of illegal drug both inside and outside the venue, and ensured the safety and security of more than 27,000 people.

As part of the operation, 97 people were detected in possession of illicit drugs, including MDMA, amphetamines, cannabis, cocaine, ecstasy, LSD, ketamine and psilocybin (mushrooms).

Major arrests included three people arrested and charged with drug supply offences.

Police will allege in court that a 21-year-old man was in possession of 15 capsules of MDMA, a 21-year-old man was with nine capsules of MDMA, and a 25-year-old woman was in possession of five MDMA capsules.

All three were charged with supply prohibited drug and granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court at a later date.

In total, police issued 15 court attendance notices, two infringement notices, 13 cannabis cautions and 58 criminal infringement notices.

During the festival, 84 people received medical treatment by NSW Ambulance paramedics. Three of those people were taken to hospital for further treatment.
