Second man charged as investigations continue into wounding of man - Lake Illawarra PD

Police have charged a second man as they continue to appeal for information after a man was seriously assaulted in the state’s Illawarra last month.
Just before 11.20am on Tuesday 15 November 2022, emergency services were called to a home on Vermont Road, Warrawong, following reports a man had been seriously assaulted.
Police have been told a 39-year-old man was working at the property when he was confronted by a 46-year-old man – and two other males allegedly armed with hammers – who allegedly became aggressive.
The men armed with hammers damaged the younger man’s car, while he climbed onto the roof of the property and called police.
The three men followed him onto the roof, before the 39-year-old man was allegedly pushed, causing him to fall 2 metres.
Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District arrived soon after and arrested a 46-year-old man at the scene. He was charged and remains before the courts.
Following further inquiries, a 20-year-old man was arrested at a residence in Warrawong today (Thursday 22 December 2022).
He was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm - in company, destroy or damage property and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal).
He was bail refused to appear at Wollongong Local Court today Thursday (22 December 2022).
A third unidentified male fled on foot.
The 39-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wollongong Hospital with injuries to his wrists, arms and hip.
Detectives have since established Strike Force Chicholm to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and have released a CCTV image of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.
He is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 175cm-180cm tall and of medium build. He was wearing grey shorts with black and white trim and white and black shoes.
