Second man charged after two seriously injured in crash - West Gosford

A second man has been charged after two people were injured at West Gosford on Saturday (10 December 2022).
About 11.10am on Saturday (10 December 2022), emergency services were called to the Central Coast Highway, at the Hely Street intersection, after reports of a two-vehicle crash.
On arrival, officers attached to Brisbane Waters Police District found a black VW station wagon and a gold Nissan X-Trail had collided.
An 85-year-old man driving the SUV suffered serious injuries after his vehicle rolled following the impact, coming to a rest against a bus shelter.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
A 28-year-old woman travelling in the front-passenger seat of the VW station wagon was also airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.
The driver of the VW station-wagon – a 24-year-old man – was breath tested which allegedly returned a negative result, before being admitted to Gosford Hospital for observation.
Officers established a crime scene with assistance from specialist police attached to the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) which was forensically examined.
A short time later, a 19-year-old man – who was allegedly driving a VW Golf GTI on the Central Coast Highway at the time of the crash – was arrested at Gosford Police Station. He remains before the courts.
Following further inquiries, investigators arrested a 24-year-old man at Gosford Police Station yesterday (Tuesday 13 December 2022).
He was charged with Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive speed dangerous, organise, promote race between vehicles, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm) and drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.
He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Gosford Local Court on Friday 3 February 2023.
