Seven charged following alleged pursuit - Central Coast

Seven teens have been arrested after three vehicles were allegedly stolen and a police car was rammed on the Central Coast.

About 2.30am today (Monday 12 February 2024), officers from Brisbane Water Police District attempted to stop three vehicles – a Mercedes, BMW and a Porsche – reported stolen from St Hubert Island on the Central Coast.

During the attempt to stop the vehicles, a police vehicle was allegedly rammed by the BMW, and two male teens – both aged 15 – were subsequently arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station.

The Porsche was abandoned, and two other teens were seen to enter the Mercedes which drove away from the scene.

A pursuit was initiated when the vehicle allegedly failed to stop; however, it was terminated a short time later due to the manner of driving.

The vehicle came to a stop on the Great Western Highway at Toongabbie just after 4am.

Five teens – four boys aged 16-17, and a 17-year-old girl – were arrested at the scene before being taken to Granville and Merrylands Police Stations.

An investigation commenced by Detectives from Brisbane Water Police District into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

One of the 15-year-old boys was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention etc, and aggravated enter dwelling with intent.

The other boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.

The 17-year-old girl was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

The four were refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Monday 12 February 2024).

A 17-year-old boy was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, enter dwelling with intent (steal), and aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.

The three were refused bail to appear before a children's court tomorrow (Tuesday 13 February 2024).
