Driver charged following two-vehicle crash - Bankstown

A man has been charged following a two-vehicle crash in Bankstown yesterday.

About 9pm (Thursday 17 July 2025), emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, Bankstown, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended and were told a black Audi was travelling in an easterly direction along the highway, and a scooter was travelling in a westerly direction when the two vehicles collided in the west-bound lanes.

The rider – a 28-year-old man – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver – an 20-year-old man – was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established, and inquiries commenced by the Crash Investigation Unit.

Following investigations, the younger man was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with drive dangerous occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive speed dangerous; negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm; and not give particulars to police.

The man was refused bail and will appear before Bankstown Local Court today (Friday 18 July 2025).
