Two charged following alleged pursuit - Lake Macquarie

Two men will face court today charged following an alleged pursuit at Lake Macquarie yesterday afternoon.
About 2.55pm yesterday (Wednesday 2 July 2025), police were patrolling the Windale area when the attempted to stop an SUV on Lachlan Street.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
Officers attempted to deploy road spikes; however, the SUV avoided the spikes and continued driving.
The pursuit continued to Kalaroo Road, Redhead, where it was terminated after the SUV allegedly drove through vehicle bollards, entering the Fernleigh Walking Track.
Police commenced a search of the area and arrested two men – aged 26 and 28 – following a foot pursuit on a nearby fire trail.
During a search of the younger man's bag, police allegedly located and seized items including 12.65g of methamphetamine, $450 cash, a knife, and tablets.
Both men were taken to Belmont Police Station where they spoke with police.
Following inquiries, the older man was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
The younger man was charged with supply prohibited drug (greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity), possess prescribed restricted substance, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, and possess housebreaking implements.
Both men were refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 3 July 2025).
