Appeal to locate man after fatal fire - Croydon

Detectives investigating a fatal house fire at Croydon are appealing for public assistance to locate a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

Just after 4am (Wednesday 28 May 2025), emergency services were called to Irrara Street, Croydon, following reports of a fire.

As inquiries continue under Strike Force Leverier, concerns are held for the welfare of a man residing at the home and police are appealing for public assistance to locate him.

The man is aged 50 and described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 190cm tall, of medium to large build, with short brown hair, a short beard and moustache.

He was last seen wearing a navy hoodie with a white ‘New York Yankees’ text and logo on the front, camflouage print shorts, a black New York Yankees logo hat, and a wristband on his right arm.

Initial inquires indicate the man was last in the Leichhardt area about 6.30am.

Police believe the man may be utilising public transport and may be travelling through the Inner West, Circular Quay, Watsons Bay, and surrounding areas.

Anyone who sees him is urged not to approach him but to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
