Appeal to locate man after fatal fire - Croydon

Police are appealing for information to locate a man after a fatal fire in Sydney’s inner west this morning.
Just after 4am (Wednesday 28 May 2025), emergency services were called to Irrara Street, Croydon, following reports of a fire.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews attended and extinguished the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the house.
The body of a man was located inside the home, he is yet to be formally identified, however believed to be a 80-year-old.
Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command established a crime scene which will be forensically examined.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, however is being treated as suspicious.
Detectives have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire under Strike Force Leverier and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
As inquires continue, police are appealing to locate a man who resided at the home. He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 50s, of large build, about 190cm tall, and with short brown hair.
Police believe the man may be utilising public transport and may be travelling through the Inner West, Circular Quay, Watsons Bay, and surrounding areas.
