Family Support

Provide emotional support, guidance and coordination of support services for families of NSWPF employees. The team also provide quarterly updates for subscribed family members and useful resources where applicable. Confidential conversations are available via phone, Monday to Friday during normal business hours.
Mental Health Clinicians

On the ground support for all NSWPF employees. Mental Health Clinicians are embedded mental health professionals focused on the enhancement of psychological wellbeing for employees at all levels. Mental Health Clinicians provide short-term, solution-focused support including advice, strategies, education, and referrals to internal and external services, and organisational consultancy to support Command wellbeing.
Peer Support Officers
NSWPF employees who have undergone a selection and assessment process prior to completing an intensive two-day training program. Peer Support Officers (PSOs) are there to support their colleagues by listening and understanding various situations and guiding them to appropriate support services.
Chaplaincy

Chaplains provide confidential pastoral and spiritual care to current and former NSWPF employees and their families. Chaplains can provide confidential support to employees and family members seeking support at home or in hospital; assistance after a tough or traumatic day; a ceremony or remembrance; or simply a friendly face, regardless of personal belief.
Health Performance Unit

The Health Performance Unit is committed to optimising the physical wellbeing of NSWPF employees through proactive and targeted initiatives. These include Periodic Health Assessments, expert-led fitness programs, comprehensive medical assessments, dietitian services and the 'Steps to Better Health'
program focusing on nutrition, fitness, and sustainable lifestyle improvements.
Periodic Health Assessments
Includes a comprehensive health review conducted by both a Health Performance Nurse and a Physical Training Instructor (PTI), featuring a confidential health check (YHC) and a movement-based assessment (FMS).

Treatment and Recovery Unit

Providing in-house rehabilitation and treatment services for NSWPF employees recovering from work-related psychological and/or physical injuries. Our multi-disciplinary team—including treating psychologists, strength & conditioning coaches, and physiotherapists—offer tailored support with a deep understanding of the unique demands of policing.

Career Transition Unit

Career Transition Officers provide vocational guidance, support, and access to resources and programs to assist employees successfully transition beyond their service with the NSW Police Force, ensuring they experience a dignified and respectful exit.
The Deployment Unit collaborates with the police employee, their Commander, rehabilitation provider, and Recover at Work Advisor to help secure a permanent placement in a suitable alternative role for those unable to return to their pre-injury position.

Recover at Work Unit

The Recover at Work Unit provide support in the management of work related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses. The unit provides a workplace rehabilitation service for all members of the NSWPF to support a safe and durable return to work following injury or illness.
Police Psychology Unit

Provide advice and psychoeducation on specific topics to address psychological issues or concerns, conduct WellChecks (psychological monitoring for employees in high-risk duty types), conduct all annual and selection psychometric assessments for specialist units and recruits, and assess fitness for
duty in conjunction with the Police Medical Officer. Service available during normal business hours.
Career Advisory Team
Provide comprehensive support and guidance to all NSWPF employees through a personalised 1:1 service in Career Planning and Development, Career Progression and Coaching, to help our people reach their full potential. Career Skills Workshops and Bespoke presentations are also provided across our organisation
to equip employees with the tools and resources to own their career journey. Access for NSWPF employees is available via BluePortal.
