The Police Multicultural Advisory Council (PMAC) assist the NSW Police Force by providing advice and identifying significant issues. They also facilitate partnerships between police and communities from diverse cultural, religious and linguistic backgrounds to contribute to crime prevention.

The objectives of the Council are to:

  1. Facilitate open, direct and two-way communication between the NSWPF Executive and external stakeholders on identified issues relating to culturally responsive policing;
  2. Inform the NSW Police Force’s approach and priorities with respect to delivering culturally responsive policing services across NSW;
  3. Identify and address significant emerging issues capable of affecting relations between the NSW Police Force and communities from diverse cultural, religious and linguistic backgrounds; and
  4. Lead and facilitate partnerships between police and communities from diverse cultural, religious and linguistic backgrounds that contribute to preventing and reducing crime and antisocial behaviour and strengthening social cohesion.
