Who’s it for?
You can apply at 16, but must be 17 to start
This is for those who want another option if you are not intending to complete your Higher School Certificate but want to remain competitive and academically eligible to join the NSWPF.
Entry requirements
Must pass a professional suitability assessment including traffic, associations, criminal history and social media checks
You’ll need a Learner’s Driver Licence, and be ready to meet fitness, medical, psychological and professional standards
Must meet and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance
Must be a competent swimmer
Must not have previously completed a Certificate III in Business
Fitness requirements
Beep Test – Level 6.1
Push Ups – 12 repetitions (on toes)
Prone Bridge (Extended Arm Hover) – 60 seconds
Illinois Agility Test – less than 22 seconds
Hand Grip – 25kg each hand

The first NSW Police Force Cadet Traineeship Program will begin on 7 April 2026 as a pilot in The Hills Police Area Command and Sutherland Shire Police Area Command.
