Recruitment Incentives

From March 2024, those looking to become a police officer in NSW will receive a financial boost while studying.

From March 2024, Student Police Officers will be employed on a temporary fixed term arrangement for the duration of session 2 (16 weeks) and paid a salary of $1,360 per week, plus superannuation and allowances. The total benefit to a Student Police Officer over the 16-week period is approximately $30,894.

NSWPF Recruitment Incentives Include:

  • $1360 (gross) a week for session two.
  • Reducing the cost of the UCWE course from about $1800 to $700 which recruits will now only enrol in after an initial suitability assessment is complete.
  • On application classes 360 and 361 may receive augmented scholarship up to $1360 per week.
  • Introducing field placements as a key component of Session One learning, allowing recruits to experience operational scenarios and get a taste of the realities of being a police officer.
