Aquatic Rescue Sequence

The aquatic rescue sequence is designed to test an applicants ability to enter the water safely and demonstrate the ability to effect a rescue.

The test must be supervised and assessed by a fully licensed AUSTSWIM teacher.  Details of participating AUSTSWIM accredited centres can be found by visiting the AUSTSWIM web site.

The test is valid for 5 years from the date you pass the test.

Please note:  If you are not a competent swimmer or unsure if you would meet the Aquatic Rescue standard you are advised to attempt the test prior to lodging your Police application.  You may be advised to undertake swimming lessons if required.

Keyboarding Skills Certificate

You are required to obtain a Keyboard Skills certificate with a pass mark of 25 wpm and 98% accuracy.   You can obtain the required certificate from any TAFE college, a recruitment/employment/agency or Business College. To find a provider which suits your circumstances, please conduct a search on the internet.  You must ensure that the organisation you choose meets the BSBITU307 Develop keyboarding speed and accuracy (Release 2) standard ( Australian Standard AS2708-2001 has been replaced with BSBITU307).  The previous standard will still be accepted by the recruitment branch until further notice.

Certificates obtained via online testing will not be accepted unless the test has been conducted in a supervised environment as per Australian Standard requirements.  Webcam access together with an active printer and photo identification is generally required to undertake an online typing test.

The only on-line skills testing organisation approved by the Police Recruitment Branch is Challenge Consulting.

All costs associated with obtaining a Keyboarding Skills certificate are the responsibility of the applicant.

Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003)

There are numerous registered training organisations (RTO's) which provide the required Provide First Aid (course code HLTAID003) + Pocket Mask Certificate for your NSW Police Force application.  The Certification must have a minimum of 12 months currency at the time of submission to the Recruitment Branch.

Please ensure that the pocket mask is either included in the course or you may have to complete an additional course component.  Certification of competency in the use of a pocket mask must be endorsed on a certificate provided by the registered training organisation.

Please conduct a search on the internet to obtain the provider which suits you.

The previous Apply First Aid (course code HLTFA311A) will still be accepted provided that it has a minimum of 12 months currency at the time of submission to the Recruitment Branch.

All costs associated with obtaining a First Aid certificate are the responsibility of the applicant.

There are 3 options to provide these documents:

  1. Photocopies certified true and correct by a Justice of the Peace.  Scanned and uploaded with the on-line professional suitability police application.
  2. Photocopies certified true and correct by a Justice of the Peace.  Scanned and emailed to your Police Recruitment Branch Case Officer.
  3. Photocopies certified true and correct by a Justice of the Peace.  Handed to the interview panel during the face to face interview process. This is the final opportunity to provide these certificates. Certificates not received by this stage will result in the application being rejected.
