A search has been conducted this week as inquiries continue into the stabbing murder of a man on the South Coast.

Emergency services were called to East Street, Bega, about 2am on Monday 6 October 2025, following reports of a concern for welfare.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and found a 43-year-old man in a park suffering stab wounds. NSW Ambulance responded; however, he died at the scene.

Police established a crime scene and an investigation commenced under Strike Force Nakstone into the circumstances surrounding the death, assisted by detectives attached to the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

A second man, aged 45 and also suffering stab wounds, was taken to South East Regional Hospital in a stable condition. He has since been released from hospital.

Police have seized two vehicles for forensic examination.

About 6.30pm on Thursday 30 October 2025, officers attached to South Coast Police District executed a search warrant at a unit in Bega, in relation to the ongoing investigation.

A knife and electronic devices were seized. No one was home at the time.

On Wednesday 12 November 2025, officers attached to the South Coast Police District with assistance from the State Emergency Service conducted a search in and around the Glebe Wetlands on East Street, Bega, and the surrounding area, to locate a knife – believed to be a small double edged dagger – discarded shortly after the alleged stabbing.

Police are renewing their appeal for information: if anyone has seen anything in the lead-up to, or after the alleged attack, they’re urged to contact Bega Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
