Two charged after man allegedly set alight - Coonabarabran

Two people will face court today after another man was allegedly set alight in the state’s west overnight.
About 6pm (Monday 13 October 2025), a 19-year-old man was walking on Cowper Street, Coonabarabran, when he was approached by a man and two women.
Police have been told a member of the group allegedly poured a liquid onto the man before he caught alight.
Passers-by extinguished the fire and the man before he was taken to hospital for treatment.
A short time later, police were called to the same street after reports of a public order incident.
Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District responded with the assistance of detectives.
A crime scene was established, and a 45-year-old woman, a 19-year-old man, and a 17-year-old girl were arrested at a nearby property.
They were all taken to Coonabarabran Police Station where the man was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent, and affray; the older woman was also charged with affray.
They were refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 4 today.
The teenage girl was released pending further investigation.
