Important Information for Class 1 Applicants:

Section 15 of the Security Industry Act 1997 provides that the Commissioner may refuse to grant an application for a Class 1 licence to an applicant who:
1) has not held a relevant Provisional licence for at least 12 months, or
2) has not previously held a relevant Class 1 licence.

In addition, applicants who have previously held licences authorising them to carry on the relevant security activities must demonstrate that they have been engaged in those activities within the last three years.

For example, an applicant who seeks a Class 1F licence must have already held either a Provisional 1F licence (for a full 12 months) or a previous Class 1F licence, and must demonstrate that they have carried on armed guarding activities within the last 3 years.

Important Information for Class 2A and 2D Applicants:

Please note that these licences carry specific training and documentation requirements on application. It will be necessary to provide the following each time you lodge an application:

2A - All applicants must supply a minimum Certificate IV in Security Risk Management and a resume with documentary evidence of 5 years relevant industry experience. Applicants with a Diploma in a security related field must demonstrate 2 years relevant experience and applicants with a Degree in a security related field, one year relevant experience.

2D - Minimum of a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment as well as qualifications for the areas you train and assess (Eg Risk Management). In addition, you will need to provide documentation demonstrating 3 years relevant industry experience.
