Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Unit (Public Affairs) is responsible for the administration and determination of applications made to NSW Police pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, 1989 ("the Act").

In order for this agency to grant access to a document under the Act, your application should be completed on one of the approved forms and should be directed to the Freedom of Information Unit.  Your application must:

  • be in writing; and
  • specify that the application is being made in accordance with the Act; and
  • be lodged by mail with any application fee payable under the regulations; and
  • shall contain such information as is reasonably necessary to enable the document sought to be identified; and
  • provide an address in Australia to which notices under the Act can be sent.

While not a requirement, any contact number provided may assist this agency to deal with the application should there be a need for clarification or consultation.
