General Duties

General Duties officers are the first point of contact between the public and the NSW Police Force. They are your local police working in Local Area Commands (LACs).

They possess a sound knowledge of all aspects of policing for duties including:

  • Attendance, assistance and investigation of daily jobs such as domestic violence, assaults, break and enters, property theft, and malicious damage;
  • Patrolling the streets by vehicle, foot or bicycle;
  • Traffic control and coordination of traffic accidents
  • Responding to calls to Police Assistance Line (PAL) and Triple Zero (000).

Specialist Units
