Man charged after knives, laser pointer located in luggage - Albury

A man has been charged after two knives and a laser pointer were located in luggage at Albury Airport.

Police were called to the airport just after 6am today (Thursday 14 September 2017) after concerns were raised about the contents of a suitcase.

The items were detected during the screening process of the checked baggage.

Officers from Albury Local Area Command attended and located two knives – a hunting knife and a folding knife – along with a laser pointer and toy pistol.

The items were seized and an 18-year-old man was arrested.

The Queensland man was taken to Albury Police Station where he was charged with two counts of possession of knife in public place; possession of prohibited article (laser pointer); along with two counts of breach of bail.

He was bail refused to appear at Albury Local Court today.
