Seven arrested, charged following major drug operation – NSW Central Coast

Saturday, 07 Nov 2009 05:43am

Police have put a significant dent in the illicit drug trade on the state’s Central Coast after charging seven alleged members of a speed and ecstasy syndicate.

Officers attached to the Brisbane Water Local Area Command’s Drug Unit commenced ‘Operation Kosmina’ earlier this year to target the illegal supply of Methylamphetamine (speed) and MDMA (ecstasy) locally.

Following a lengthy investigation, the covert operation was expanded to incorporate Tuggerah Lakes LAC investigators and the Region Enforcement Squad at Gordon, in Sydney’s north.

The operation culminated yesterday (Friday 6 November) in the arrest of three men and four women and the seizure of speed and ecstasy, worth approximately $100,000 on the street.

Two men, aged 37 and 43, and a 34-year-old woman were arrested by police at The Entrance; a 38-year-old man was taken into custody at a Woongarrah residence; two women, aged 19 and 20, were arrested at a luxury Terrigal hotel; and a 56-year-old woman was captured at Dural.

Search warrants executed on the Woongarrah house and another at Pennant Hills allegedly turned up cash and drug paraphernalia.

All seven alleged offenders have been charged with a raft of drug-related matters.

The 37, 38 and 43-year-old men have been refused bail to appear in Gosford Bail Court this morning, while it’s expected the 56-year-old woman will face Parramatta Bail Court today.

Their three co-accused have been granted conditional bail to appear in court at a later date.
