Four youths charged following assaults, robbery and reckless damage – Bourke
Friday, 06 Nov 2009 01:58pmFour youths have been charged following alleged assaults, robbery and reckless damage in the State’s north west earlier this week.
On Tuesday evening (3 November) four males went to a home in Oxley Street, Bourke and confronted the occupants, resulting in a male allegedly being assaulted.
The group then allegedly threw bottles and rocks at the house, causing windows to break and damage to the structure.
A short time later three of the males went to a home in Mertin Street, Bourke, before allegedly turning off the power at the electricity box.
They then smashed a window and attempted to steal a car before being confronted by the 52-year-old female occupant of the home. It’s alleged the group attacked the woman with an iron bar and stole her mobile phone before fleeing the scene.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Bourke Hospital and later transferred to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney with facial fractures and a serious eye injury.
Following inquiries by Bourke Police, yesterday afternoon (Thursday 5 November) police arrested four male youths, a 17-year-old Narromine male, two 17-year-old boys from Bourke and a 16-year-old Enngonia youth. The Narromine male was apprehended after a foot pursuit.
The two Bourke youths and the 16-year-old were charged with aggravated robbery causing grievous bodily harm and affray.
The Narromine youth was charged with affray, assault and reckless damage.
All four males were refused bail and appeared at Bourke Children’s Court today where they were again refused bail to re-appear on Monday 7 December 2009.
