Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man who went missing in the State’s Hunter region earlier this week.
Wayne Toms, aged 51 years, was last seen by his wife when he left their home, in Lochend Circuit, East Maitland, about 5.30am on Tuesday (3 November) to go to work.
Toms and his wife last spoke shortly before 8am on the same day.
Mr Toms failed to return home later that evening and was not contactable. His wife then reported him missing to police in Wednesday’s early hours (4 November).
Following police inquiries, Mr Toms’ car, a grey coloured sedan, was located in a car park at Bar Beach, in the Newcastle area, about 8.20am on Wednesday (4 November).
The vehicle has been taken for forensic examination.
A water search was conducted from Nobby’s Beach to Red Head without result and police hold grave concerns for Mr Toms’ welfare.
He is described as white/European in appearance, stocky build, about 170cm tall, clean shaven with light brown receding hair.
At the time of his disappearance, Ms Toms was wearing a black polo shirt with a grey collar and the word ‘Queenstown’ on the front, denim three-quarter length shorts and white joggers and reading glasses.
Anyone with information about Wayne Toms’ whereabouts is urged to contact Maitland Police on 4934 0200 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
