Friday, 06 Nov 2009 05:16am

Police are conducting inquiries into two street robberies in Sydney’s south-west.

In the first incident, a 17-year-old male youth and an 18-year-old woman were walking along Lopez Lane, Bankstown, about 5pm yesterday (Thursday 5 November), when they were surrounded by four unknown men brandishing knives.

The armed offenders threatened the pair before robbing the male victim of his iPhone and wallet containing a small sum of cash.

The group was last seen getting into a red old-style Honda motor vehicle, which was parked a short distance away.

Police from Bankstown Local Area Command are conducting inquiries into the robbery.

The first offender has been described to police as being aged in his mid to late teens, of thin build with dark complexion, short brown/black hair and tattoos – possibly of fish – on either arm.

The second offender has been described as being aged in his mid-teens, of Asian appearance and very small in stature.

The third offender has been described only as being of medium build. He was wearing a white short sleeved shirt and white shorts at the time of the incident.

The fourth offender has been described only as having blond hair cut in a Mohawk style and a tattoo on his left arm.

Meanwhile, in the second unrelated incident, a woman was walking along Berna Street, Canterbury, about 8pm yesterday, when she was approached by an unknown man.

The man punched the woman to the face and stole her bag before running off towards Canterbury Road.

The 28-year-old woman sustained a suspected broken jaw in the incident and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics. She was taken to Canterbury Hospital for further care.

Police from Ashfield Local Area Command are continuing their inquiries in a bid to catch the offenders, who’s been described as being aged in his mid-20s, of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, 160cm tall with short black hair.

Anyone with information about either incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
