Strike Force Stitz detectives charge woman with man’s murder – Cessnock
Friday, 06 Nov 2009 05:08amStrike force detectives have charged a woman with the murder of a man at Cessnock, in the Hunter Valley.
About 11.45pm on Wednesday (4 November), police from Central Hunter Local Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the grounds of a church on Cumberland Street, Cessnock, after receiving reports of an injured man at the location.
Upon arrival, they located a 30-year-old man suffering a stab wound.
He was taken to Cessnock Hospital but died a short time later.
A crime scene was secured and specialist forensic officers examined the area.
Strike Force Stitz was formed by local and Homicide Squad detectives to investigate the man’s death.
About 11am yesterday (Thursday 5 November), a 28-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Cessnock Police Station for questioning.
She was last night charged with murder and refused bail to appear in Cessnock Local Court today.
