Friday, 06 Nov 2009 05:07amPolice in Sydney’s west have charged a man with a string of offences following a pursuit through the Parramatta CBD.
Officers attached to Strike Force Taipan attempted to stop a green 1999-model BMW in Smith Street, Parramatta, just after midday yesterday (Thursday 5 November) to subject the male driver to a random breath test.
However, the driver allegedly failed to stop and accelerated away from police before running a red light.
Police pursued the BMW through the Parramatta CBD to a bus interchange near Argyle Street where the vehicle stopped and the driver was arrested.
A search of the man allegedly uncovered a sum of cash.
The 25-year-old Yennora man was taken to Parramatta Police Station for questioning and subsequently charged with drive vehicle recklessly/furiously or in a speed/manner dangerous; not stop vehicle when directed to do so; drive while disqualified from holding a licence; and goods in custody.
He’s been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.
