Further suspected body part located – Dairyville
Tuesday, 03 Nov 2009 06:15pmPolice conducting searches have discovered a further suspected body part in a creek on the State’s north coast.
This afternoon police searching a creek at Dairyville, about 15km west of Coffs Harbour, located a suspected body part.
The body part has been sent for forensic examination. At this stage it is unknown whether the part is human or not.
This follows the discovery of human remains by swimmers about 4pm on Sunday (1 November) when a father and his three children went swimming in a creek located on a 42ha property.
While swimming, the family noticed the lower portion of a human body lying on the creek bed.
Police were contacted and a crime scene was secured.
Forensic examinations are underway.
At this stage, police are treating the death as suspicious.
Investigators will assess whether a search of the property will continue tomorrow.
