Man charged with discharging firearm – Forster
Monday, 02 Nov 2009 11:02amA man has been charged after a firearm was discharged during an altercation on the State’s mid north coast over the weekend.
Between 10pm and midnight on Friday (30 October) an 18-year-old man was within a cemetery at Forster allegedly armed with a .22 calibre rifle.
It is alleged the rifle discharged twice as a 16-year-old male attempted to wrestle it from the man.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
About 2.45am on Saturday (31 October) police arrested an 18-year-old Forster man.
Following his arrest police allegedly located and seized the firearm and a number of other firearms at a residence in Likely Street, Forster.
The man was taken to Forster Police Station where he was charged with carrying a firearm likely to cause injury, possessing a firearm whilst unlicensed, and being armed with intent to intimidate.
He was refused bail and appeared at Forster Local Court on Saturday 31 October where he was granted conditional bail to re-appear on 4 November 2009.
