Man charged over alleged sexual assault and child prostituation of young girl - SCC Child Abuse Squad

A man will face court tomorrow after being charged by detectives investigating the alleged sexual assault of a young girl on Sydney’s Upper North Shore two years ago.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation after receiving information a young girl was sexually assaulted by a man she met online.

Following an appeal to the community earlier today (Monday 17 July 2017), a 37-year-old man attended Chatswood Police Station about 1.40pm, where he was arrested by Child Abuse Squad detectives.

He was subsequently charged with sexual intercourse with person aged 14 to 16 (x12) and engaging in acts of child prostitution (x9).

The Chatswood man was refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 18 July 2017).

Child Abuse Squad Commander, Acting Superintendent Peter Yeomans, thanked the media and community for their ongoing assistance and support.

The Child Abuse Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect.
