Pedestrian injured after being struck by car - Liverpool

An elderly woman has been seriously after she was struck by a car while attempting to cross the road at Liverpool this afternoon.

Just before 2pm (Monday 17 July 2017), the 89 year-old woman was attempting to cross Elizabeth Drive, near Flowerdale Road, when she was hit by a car.

The woman sustained serious head injuries, as well as a possible fractured ankle, and was conveyed to Liverpool Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the car, a 61 year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing. He was not injured.

A crime scene has been established and Crash Investigation Unit are on site.

Traffic on Elizabeth Drive is heavy with west bound lanes closed and traffic diverted down Mclean St, Liverpool. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Investigations are continuing.
