Charges laid over fatal single-vehicle crash - Northern Beaches

A man has been charged and will face court today, after a woman died in a single-vehicle crash on the Northern Beaches early this morning.

Shortly after 1am (Tuesday 11 July 2017), a black Honda Prelude was travelling west on Mona Vale Road, near Forest Way, Terrey Hills, when it crossed eastbound lanes and crashed into a tree.

A rear passenger of the car, a 27-year-old woman, died at the scene.

Another woman, aged 23, and also seated in the rear of the car, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.

A 20-year-old man, who was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, suffered minor injuries. He was taken to Mona Vale Hospital and was released after undergoing mandatory blood and urine testing.

He was arrested and taken to Manly Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Manly Local Court today (Tuesday 11 July 2017).
