A man has been killed in a single vehicle crash at Port Macquarie.

About 8.20am yesterday (Monday 10 July 2017), a Nissan Navara utility was being driven south on the Pacific Highway at Herons Creek by a 32-year-old woman.

When the Nissan was about 2.5 kilometres south of Aintree Close the vehicle appears to have left the eastern side of the carriageway. The passenger side of the utility struck a tree and the car rolled.

As a result of the impact, a 31-year-old man who was the front seat passenger in the Nissan sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

Other motorists stopped at the crash scene and the driver was assisted from the vehicle and conveyed to Port Macquarie Hospital for observation.

Emergency services were called to the location and officers from the Mid North Coast Crash Investigation Unit commenced inquiries into the incident.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact police.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner outlining the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
