Police have charged two brothers following investigations into the serious assault of a 16-year-old boy in Matraville last week.
About 10.40pm (Friday 7 July 2017), a 16th birthday party was taking place at a home on Jennings Street, Matraville, when a number of uninvited guests entered the party.
After refusing to leave, they allegedly assaulted two men aged 59 and 32 who were at the event.
Other guests became involved in the altercation and it spilled into a side access path.
At this time police will allege a 16-year-old boy, who was a guest at the party, was punched to the rear of his head causing him to fall to the ground where he allegedly had his head and neck stomped on, causing serious facial injuries.
Police from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command commenced an investigation and have now charged two men aged 18 and 20.
The 18-year-old was arrested on Botany Road, Botany, about 4.40pm yesterday (Monday 10 July 2017).
He was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm in company, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company (x2), and affray.
The 20-year-old attended Mascot Police Station about 8pm (Monday 10 July 2017) where he was arrested and charged with the same offences.
Both have been refused bail and will appear in Waverley Local Court today (Tuesday 11 July 2017).
