Man arrested following assault - Orange

A man has been arrested over an assault in the state’s Central West which has left another man in a critical condition in hospital.

Police were told that yesterday morning (Saturday 17 June 2017), a fist fight had occurred between two neighbours at Orchard Grove Drive, Orange, following an ongoing dispute.

About 1.30pm, one of the men, aged 62, was driving out of his driveway when a man allegedly began to hit his car with a wooden post.

As the man got out of his vehicle it’s alleged he was hit in the head with the wooden post.

He was taken to Orange Health Service before being airlifted to Westmead Hospital where he is in a critical but stable condition.

A 47-year-old man was arrested and has been charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent and reckless grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Orange Bail Court today (Sunday 18 June 2017).

Investigations are continuing.
