Monday, 12 June 2017 05:05:07 AM

A man who was wanted for questioning in relation to an attempted kidnapping in Burwood was arrested yesterday, after a serious assault at Dee Why that saw a man hit across the face with a bar stool.

About 2pm (Sunday 11 June 2017), a 26-year-old man and his 57-year-old father attended a hotel on Campbell Avenue, Dee Why.

It is alleged that whilst at the premises, the younger man picked up a bar stool and swung it at a 54-year-old man, hitting him in the face.

As a result, the man fell to the ground unconscious and the pair left the hotel.

The injured man was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where he underwent surgery for a serious facial laceration and a missing front tooth.

Police from Northern Beaches Local Area Command arrested the men a short time later after spotting their vehicle nearby.

The younger man was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, two counts of common assault, affray, and driving with a low-range prescribed concentration of alcohol (PCA).

He was also questioned and charged in relation to an attempted kidnapping that occurred in Burwood last Sunday (4 June 2017).

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Monday 12 June 2017).

His father was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, two counts of common assault, affray, and behaving in an offensive manner.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Manly Local Court on 21 June 2017.
