A man will face court next month after he was stopped by police in a stolen motor vehicle.

Police attached to Dareton Highway Patrol stopped a Volkswagen Golf about 11.35am yesterday (Saturday 10 June 2017), on the Sturt Highway, Monak, near the South Australian border.

The 31-year-old driver was subjected to a roadside drug test which returned a positive result and he was arrested.

Subsequent checks on the vehicle revealed it was stolen and during a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located drug paraphernalia, knives and suspected stolen vehicle registration plates.

The man was taken to Dareton Police Station where checks on the man’s licence revealed he was disqualified from driving until August 2018.

He was charged with disqualified driving, take and drive conveyance and receiving stolen goods.

The man was granted conditional bail and will appear in Wentworth Local Court on Friday 4 August 2017.

Inquiries continue.
