Friday, 09 June 2017 11:37:27 AM

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a double fatal motor vehicle collision in the Deniliquin Local Area Command yesterday.

About 12.55pm on Thursday 8 June 2017, emergency services were called to the Cobb Highway, about five kilometres north of Wanganella, following reports of a crash.

It is believed that a northbound B-double, driven by a 27-year-old man, and a northbound Mitsubishi Triton, towing a caravan, collided.

Following that impact, the 66-year-old male driver of the Mitsubishi and his female passenger were killed.

Police from Deniliquin Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene at the location.

The 27-year-old driver of the B-double was not injured in the crash but underwent mandatory testing.

The Cobb Highway remained closed for several hours whilst emergency services remained at the scene.

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner outlining the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.
