A man will face court today after a pursuit with police in Shalvey.

About 4.20pm yesterday (Friday 2 June 2017), officers attached to Police Transport Command North West were patrolling Lucena Crescent, Lethbridge Park, when they observed a Holden sedan allegedly travelling at excessive speed.

Police attempted to stop the car; however, it accelerated and a pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, police observed the car to stop in Peter Van Hasselt Park at Shalvey and two females ran from the car into bushland.

Police will allege the driver reversed the car and collided with the police vehicle. The driver ran from the car and after a short foot pursuit was arrested.

The 33-year-old man was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station and charged with police pursuit – not stop (Skye’s law), drive while disqualified, use an offensive instrument to prevent lawful apprehension, malicious damage and goods in custody.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 3 June 2017).

Investigations are continuing.
