House fire - Central Hunter

Police are investigating a house fire at Thornton in the Central Hunter this morning.

Emergency services were called to Singleton Avenue about 2.50am (Saturday 8 July 2017) where they found a house well alight.

The occupants, a man, woman and their two sons, escaped the home. The sons were taken to Maitland Hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

The fire was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW officers but the house was destroyed.

At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown and police are appealing for any person with information about the incident to come forward.
