Investigators renew appeal after cyclist dies - Byron Bay

Police have released an image of the crash site, as they repeat their appeal for witnesses to come forward, following a fatal bicycle crash on the state’s north coast earlier this week.
About 12.30pm (Monday 3 July 2017), a 70-year-old man was riding his pushbike east on Bangalow Road, Byron Bay.
When he was about 650m from the intersection with Coopers Shoot Road the cyclist has come off his bike and impacted heavily with the road.
Emergency services were contacted and the man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Gold Coast Hospital where he later died.
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attended and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police have been told that prior to the crash a second bicycle rider was seen in the area, as well as a white Toyota Landcruiser.
Police are urging the other rider, the occupants of the white Landcruiser and any other witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward.
An image of the area where the crash occurred has been released to help jog the memory of any potential witnesses.
