Theft of valuable painting - Balmain

Police are appealing for information after a valuable painting was stolen from a home in Balmain.
On Sunday (2 July 2017), the resident of a home on Beattie Street, Balmain, was in the process of moving out of the premises, when it is believed the painting was stolen from inside the home.
A set of stereo speakers were also stolen at the same time.
The painting, by Colin John McCahon, is called Comet (F13) and has an estimated value of $200,000.
It has approximate dimensions of 100cm x 75cm.
The theft was reported to police from Leichhardt Local Area Command who have commenced inquiries.
