Police are appealing for information following a suspicious fire in Sydney’s west this morning.

About 1.30am (Thursday 6 July 2017), emergency services were called to Watt Avenue, Newington, following reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, police and Fire & Rescue NSW found a house, and a car parked in the driveway of the home, alight.

Fire fighters extinguished the blaze; however the home sustained significant damage and the vehicle – a Mercedes hatchback – was destroyed.

No one was injured.

Officers from Flemington Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe the fire was deliberately lit.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
