A motorcycle rider is in a critical condition following a three-vehicle crash in St Ives this afternoon.

About 1.20pm (Tuesday 4 July 2017), emergency services were called to Mona Vale Road, St Ives, near the intersection of Mawson Street, following reports of a crash.

Initial investigations suggest a motorcycle and a taxi travelling west on Mona Vale Road collided, before the motorcycle rider fell from the bike and was hit by a van.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man believed to be aged in his 20s, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the taxi, a 25-year-old man and the driver of the van, a 41-year-old man, were not injured and have both been taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine analysis.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are continuing.
