Police believe people travelling in a white car might be able to assist with inquiries after one man died and another was injured during a shooting on the Central Coast.

Just before 12.30pm today (Monday 3 July 2017), emergency services were called to Warner Avenue, Wyong, following reports of shots fired.

A 22-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but died at the scene.

Another man, aged 28, was treated for a grazes to his hand and shoulder at the scene, prior to speaking to police about the incident.

Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command Acting Superintendent David Waddell said there were at least two people in the vehicle when it was involved in an incident with a white vehicle on Byron Road near the intersection of Panonia Road.

“Shots were fired from the white car towards the men who were able to make their way to Warner Avenue. Their vehicle is being forensically examined.

“We are still searching for the white car which had at least two people, not further described, on board.

“While it is still quite early in our inquiries, we are treating this as an isolated incident,” Acting Superintendent Waddell said.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command have established crime scenes and investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Inquiries are continuing.
