CCTV released after break and enter - Hunter region

Police have released CCTV images after a break and enter at a home near Maitland today.

About 7am today (Friday 30 June 2017), a 74-year-old woman was in the kitchen of her Morpeth Road, Morpeth, home when she told police she saw a man in her backyard.

The man entered her home through the back door and stolen two mobile phones.

He then left the home and tried to break in through the bedroom window but was stopped by the 73-year-old male resident.

The man was chased from the home by witnesses.

Police attached to the Central Hunter Local Area Command have released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander or Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, medium build with black hair. He was wearing a grey hooded jumper, long dark pants and gloves.
