Man charged with murder after stabbing - Campsie

A man has been charged with murder after the stabbing death of a man in Sydney’s south west yesterday.

About 11.30am (Thursday 29 June 2017), emergency services were called to a business on Beamish Street, Campsie, following reports a man had been stabbed.

On arrival officers located a 41-year-old man suffering a stab wound to his leg.

A male witness, also aged 41, had been punched in the face by the offender.

The man with the stab wound was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene was established which was examined by forensic officers.

About 6pm, the victim died in hospital.

Following inquiries, about 6.25pm, police arrested a 41-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman at an address in Lakemba.

They were taken to Campsie Police Station. The 41-year-old man was charged with murder and common assault.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Friday 30 June 2017).

The woman was released without charge however inquiries continue.
