Police have charged a man with murder after extraditing him from Queensland in relation to the shooting death of a man in the state’s north at the weekend.

About 4.30pm (Saturday 24 June 2017), police attended Tweed Heads District Hospital after receiving information a man suffering a gunshot wound had presented at the hospital.

The man died a short time later.

He has been formally identified as 31-year-old man, Ace Hall.

Detectives from Tweed Heads Local Area Command, with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, established Strike Force Varndell to investigate Mr Hall’s death.

NSW Police worked closely with officers from Queensland who overnight located a Toyota Corolla at a service station on the Mt Lindsay Highway at Jimboomba.

About 4.30am today (Tuesday 27 June 2017) Queensland Police arrested a 33-year-old man without incident.

He appeared at Southport Local Court and Strike Force detectives were granted extradition of the man from Queensland.

The 33-year-old man was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with murder.

He was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 28 June 2017).
