Further witnesses sought to pedestrian fatal - Orange

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to a fatal fail-to-stop pedestrian crash in Orange last month.

About 10.20pm on Sunday 28 May 2017, emergency services were called to Summer Street, near the intersection of Hill Street, after the body of a woman was located on the road by a passing motorist.

Officers attended and found the body of a 36-year-old woman who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Inquiries suggest the woman walked from a nearby motel before she was struck by a vehicle.

A crime scene was established and investigations commenced by officers from Central West Crash Investigation Unit.

On Friday 23 June 2017, a vehicle was seized from an address in Orange and forensically examined. Police have since spoken with the driver, a 66-year-old man, who has been released pending further inquiries.

Crash investigators are continuing to appeal for any person with information about the crash to come forward.

They would also like to thank the local community and media for their assistance in this matter to date.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
