The alleged driver of a vehicle involved in a pursuit with police in Villawood yesterday has now been charged.

About 5.45pm (Monday 26 June 2017), police from South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad attempted to stop a vehicle in Belar Avenue, Villawood.

Police will allege the vehicle failed to stop and a short pursuit was engaged through the streets of Villawood before the vehicle returned to Belar Avenue where it crashed into a telegraph pole.

Three occupants of the vehicle got out of the car and surrendered to police with the exception of the driver who allegedly started running from the scene.

Officers gave chase and arrested him a short distance away.

The three male occupants of the car, two aged 18 and one aged 22, were spoken to by police and released at the scene.

The 22-year-old driver has now been charged at Bankstown Police Station with engage in police pursuit (Skye’s Law), drive while licence cancelled, and breach of bail.

He has been refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court today (Tuesday 27 June 2017).
