Firearm produced during theft of bags - St Andrews

Police are investigating after a firearm was produced by a man during the theft of a bag from a sports ground in St Andrews last night.
About 9.10pm (Monday 26 June 2017), Tag League is played across a number of fields on the Stromeferry Reserve, St Andrews.
At the completion of the games a number of people were packing away when they noticed a man, dressed in black with a black ski mask and black hood, stealing a kit bag containing a portable EFTPOS machine and a tin with an amount of cash, as well as a referee’s bag containing an iPhone7 and a wallet.
During the theft the man was challenged by a team member who has witnessed the theft.
The man produced a pistol and pointed it towards the ground as he ran towards a silver Toyota Kluger that was parked at the location.
Police are calling for anyone with information concerning the theft to contact detectives at Macquarie Fields, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
