Three young people have been charged after a carjacking and pursuit in the Lake Illawarra region.
About 2pm yesterday (Sunday 25 June 2017), a 68-year-old man was returning to his vehicle in King Street, Warrawong, when he was approached by two males and a female.
The man was allegedly robbed of his car keys before the three left in the Hyundai sedan.
As a result of inquiries, about 8.45pm yesterday, police attended a home on Davidson Street, Warilla, where they sighted the stolen car.
As police approached it, the car sped away. A pursuit was initiated which was terminated a short time later due to dangerous driving.
The vehicle was later found on the Princes Highway, Primbee.
Further police attended and a police dog commenced to track the occupants until they were all arrested on Northcliffe Drive, Warrawong.
The 20-year-old woman and two 16-year-old boys were taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.
They were all charged with steal from person, robbery in company, goods in custody, and illegal use of conveyance.
They were all refused bail, with the woman to appear at Wollongong Local Court today, and the two boys to appear at a children’s court today (Monday 26 June 2017).
